PROPOSAL PHOTOGRAPHY In Denver & Colorado

I can’t wait to help plan and document one of the most meaningful moments in your relationship.

I photograph proposals throughout Denver, the foothills, and across Colorado. Before your proposal, we’ll work out the details regarding timing, location, and how to keep your proposal a surprise.

Whether you want to propose in a candlelit nook in the city or on a hike with a majestic mountain view, I’m excited for you to relive the moment you asked and the moment when they said “yes” all over again through my photos.

Catherine was great to work with as I planned my proposal on a trip to Colorado and the end result was wonderful! She helped with many different ideas and potential locations before we decided on the right one. Plus she was great at coordinating times and other specifics on the day so that I could keep it a surprise.
The final photos were great and really helped capture the moment so we can remember it for many years to come. Thank you so much for helping make it a very special day for the two of us! - Graham

FREQUENTLY ASKED Questions

What’s your proposal photography style?

I create timeless, true-to-color, and true-to-you images. My approach blends candid storytelling photos with gentle posing, so your proposal photos feel like you. In your gallery, you’ll receive a mix of in-the-moment reactions and posed portraits.

Can we bring pets, props, or decor to our Denver proposal?

Many couples bring their dog or a personal touch, like a sign or flowers. I provide a small bouquet or a half bottle of champagne for all but the mini proposal packages.

If you’d like a simple setup, such as a single sign or picnic blanket, I’m happy to help. For more elaborate setups, I can connect you with a local proposal or wedding planner. Please confirm that your chosen location allows pets or decor, especially in parks or public spaces. All setups must follow Leave No Trace guidelines, which we’ll review during planning. I’d recommend these planners to help with your proposal setup! JayBird Events, McArthur Events, Four O’Clock Events, and Rita Rose Designs.

Do you help with proposal photo planning and location ideas in Denver and Colorado?

Yes. As a Denver proposal photographer, I help couples choose locations that fit their vision, timing, and comfort level. I’ll guide you through lighting, timing, and backup options so the plan feels clear and manageable.

If you’d like me to scout a location that’s not on my recommended list, I can provide a custom scouting quote.

Will you hide during our proposal photos?

I hide in in plain sight during proposals with my cameras tucked away, ready to photograph the moment once you give the signal or go down on one knee.

What’s your approach to weather and rescheduling for Colorado proposals?

Colorado weather can be unpredictable. I’ll photograph in light rain, snow, wind, or fog, which can add a beautiful, emotional quality to your Denver or Colorado proposal photos.

We’ll only reschedule for unsafe conditions like lightning, wildfire smoke, extreme temperatures, wind, rain/snow or road closures.

If you want to book an indoor Colorado proposal location, some of my favorite locations include:

Do you travel for Colorado proposal photography?

Yes. I photograph proposals throughout Colorado, including Denver, the foothills, and mountain locations, such as Colorado Springs, Boulder, Frisco, Breckenridge, Evergreen, and more. For destinations beyond what’s included in your package, I’m happy to provide a custom travel quote

What does your proposal photography pricing include?

Your Colorado proposal photography package includes planning support, photography time, editing in my clean, timeless style, and a private online gallery with high-resolution images. You’ll have full personal-use rights to share, download, and print your photos.

How do we book a proposal photography session?

After we connect and confirm the basics, I’ll send over a contract and invoice. A nonrefundable retainer reserves your date and includes support for proposal planning. We’ll check in once or twice before your session so everything feels clear and stress-free.

When should I book a proposal photographer?

For peak Colorado photo season, May through October, I recommend booking your proposal 4–6 weeks in advance. Booking earlier is especially helpful for weekends, popular locations, or spots that require permits.

What kinds of proposals do you photograph in Denver and Colorado?

I photograph both Denver city proposals and Colorado mountain proposals. Whether you’re planning something simple or more adventurous, I’ll help you think through logistics. My proposal photography includes up to 2 miles round trip of hiking. Due to longer hiking logistics, I recommend 3+ mile hiking photo sessions for engagement or elopement photos. Catherine Norwood Photo regularly photographs Colorado proposals in Lakewood, Golden, Morrison (Red Rocks Amphitheater), Littleton, Boulder, Eldorado Springs, Evergreen, Idaho Springs, Lavender Hill, Denver, Cap Hill, Littleton, Highlands Ranch, City Park, Parker, Arvada, Westminster, Broomfield, Castle Pines, and Cherry Creek.

Can we request retouching for our proposal photos?

I edit all images in a clean, timeless style. Additional retouching, such as blemish or object removal, is available for $20 per image. I don’t offer body modification edits as I believe in affirming and celebrating all bodies as they are.

Do you deliver RAW or unedited proposal photos?

No. I deliver curated, edited, high-resolution JPEGs for you to enjoy for years to come.

Will you use our proposal photos online?

Often, yes. I love sharing joyful Denver and Colorado proposal stories on my website and social media. I’ll always prioritize your comfort, and you’re welcome to opt out of image use for marketing.

All are welcome!

As a queer-owned Denver proposal photography business, I celebrate all love stories. I approach every session with care, curiosity, and respect so you feel safe, seen, and celebrated.

Do you have a license and insurance for proposal photography?

With over a decade of experience and over 70 proposals photographed, I bring a calm, prepared presence to moments that matter. I approach photography in a photojournalist and natural way, capturing the moment as it felt, so your proposal photos reflect real emotion.

WHY PROPOSAL PHOTO PLANNING Matters

Most people planning a proposal have never planned one before. Also, proposals can come with nerves and anticipation, so I put a lot of thought and care into how best to support you and photograph your proposal. When we connect, I’ll ask you several questions to get a good sense of you and your partner’s priorities, and we’ll cover timing, location, weather, and more. We’ll walk through these details several times prior to your proposal to help you stay present.

I will hide in plain sight and keep my cameras hidden until you go down on one knee. After you’ve had time to celebrate and soak in all the post-proposal feels with your partner, I’ll guide you two into a fun and relaxed post-proposal photo session.  If you’d like a proposal set up beyond a picnic blanket or a simple bouquet, I will loop in one of my favorite proposal planners to coordinate rentals, florals, and more.

If you’d like support thinking through the details and want to check availability, I’d love to connect.
